What Is Lined Paper?

Lined paper (also called ruled paper) is a page made up of evenly spaced horizontal lines that guide handwriting or note-taking in a straight row. Unlike graph paper, it has no vertical rules, so the page stays open and easy to write across while keeping every line level. It comes in different rulings — narrow, wide or extra-wide — depending on how much space you want between lines.

Choose the Right Line Spacing

The right spacing depends on who's writing and how much needs to fit on the page. Use the grid spacing control above to set it exactly.
